Day Training

Training your dog on your own can often feel overwhelming, especially when both you and your dog are trying to learn new skills simultaneously. It's like the blind leading the blind!

How we can help

Achieve balance in your busy life while ensuring your dog thrives. Our Day Training service not only takes the pressure off by providing regular training sessions but also enriches your dog’s mind and body. With tailored sessions focused on building new skills and enhancing mental well-being, your dog will enjoy a comprehensive, fulfilling experience. Let us handle the training so you can enjoy more quality time with your well-behaved, happy dog.

Typical behaviours we help with:

  • Zig-zagging
  • Pulling on the lead
  • Frequent pauses for sniffing
  • Heightened excitability
  • Jumping on people or dogs
  • Recalling your dog to you

The team at Pet Professor came to our rescue when our puppy was about 11 months old and hit “adolescents”!

I loved him but honestly was questioning my decision to bring him into the family… We sought a combination of Walk and Trains for Squishy and 4 x education sessions (Mind Your Manners course) for me to be a better, more consistent fur-mum.

Amy (who did the walk and trains) is a dog whisperer and honestly Squishy became calm and so well behaved. We loved the results and Squishy enjoyed his time with Amy so much.

We still call on Pet Professor for walk and trains when I’m travelling with work because the team are reliable, trustworthy and so great with Squishy. Very frequently people comment on what a calm and lovely dog our Squishy is - and a large dose of credit we owe to Marianne and her team!

How day training sessions can benefit you

How day training sessions can benefit you

With our Day Training sessions, a skilled professional handles the training, ensuring your dog not only learns new skills efficiently but also receives essential mental stimulation. Experience faster, more consistent progress, with benefits like quicker responses, reliable recalls, and improved behaviour around others. Regular enrichment reduces destructive behaviour at home, while increased focus on you strengthens your bond. Our trainers tailor the program to suit both your goals and your dog’s unique needs, unlocking their full potential.
The process

The process

01 BOOK YOUR INITIAL ASSESSMENT

The initial session is held with both you and your dog and is a great opportunity for you to meet your trainer, go through specific information about your dog and design your training program.

02 BOOK YOUR WEEKLY SUBSCRIPTION

We’ll work with your dog one-on-one through a customised training program tailored to address your specific needs. These sessions allow us to directly engage with your dog, enhance their training, reinforce important skills, and enrich their day.

03 DAY TRAINING SESSIONS COMMENCE

Once we've worked our magic, you’ll likely notice a significant decrease in at-home nuisance behaviours and better behaviours in the home overall as the weeks progress. We can continue to help achieve any training goals that arise over time.

04 PRIVATE TRAINING SESSIONS

We strongly recommend that in addition to your weekly day training session, you also book private training sessions at least once or twice per month. This allows us to transfer the knowledge to you giving you the skill to continue to work with your dog so that you can see the results too.

The process

I’d met someone from Pet Professor in the park who was working with a dog we knew and I was amazed at the dog’s focus! He (Squishy) was totally mesmerised by the trainer and barely said hello to us - usually he would immediately run to my dog to play!

Merlin is an adolescent dog and we felt we needed guidance on a bit more training. He was also pulling a lot on walks.

Marianne helped and guided us on how to get Merlin to be more focused on us when walking and he is now much easier to manage.

Merlin is much better trained and it’s more fun to walk him. He is super intelligent and loves learning new games. His recall is better and we feel much more confident knowing it is up to us to train him further as Marianne and her team have given us the tools.

Designed to help with basic manners training for outside issues. They are not intended for separation, aggression or reactivity training. Please speak to us about behaviour modification training and add on day training sessions should your dog be reacting in an aggressive manner around other dogs or people.
You can purchase weekly walks and pay via weekly, fortnightly or monthly subscription. You can also pause your subscription at any time or choose to cancel it altogether.
As there are learners at both ends of the leash that need training, your dog’s behaviour change will not be fully apparent to you to begin with. Over time you will see an increase in lead walking skills, listening outside and recalls, however, if you do not learn how to maintain these skills by attending private training transfer sessions, you will not have the necessary skills to implement them. You can add private lessons or attend group classes to help get the best out of your day training sessions.
